Tips to Avoid Academic Dishonesty

“I will be academically honest in all of my academic work and will not tolerate academic dishonesty of others.”

  • Read A Culture of Honesty, the University academic honesty policy
  •  Get to know your professors
  •  Read the course syllabus  
  •  Don’t wait until the last minute to start a project
  •  If you aren’t sure about the assignment, ASK your professor for more information
  •  Do not loan completed assignments to others
  •  Be cautious when sharing a computer
  •  Don’t download papers from the Internet
  •  PLAGIARISM – AVOID it by citing often and correctly
  •  Be sure to note your sources when conducting research and taking notes
  •  Group Projects? Know what needs to be YOUR work and what may be a collaboration
  •  Cover you answers with your arm or a piece of paper
  •  If you are overly anxious about a test – talk to your professor
  •  Don’t look around during a test – SIT STILL
  •  Don’t write on your hand
  •  Don’t take ANYTHING to a test that isn’t allowed
